What makes a good headline?
Strong headlines are specific, short enough to read at a glance (about 6–12 words, under 60 characters for Google), and they promise a clear outcome. Numbers, a touch of emotion and one or two power words usually help.
How the score works
We check length, word count, power words, emotional words, numbers, headline type (list, how-to, question), the balance of common and uncommon words, and clarity. Each check shows exactly how many points you earned and how to get the rest.
