How to turn one article into a week of content
A simple, repeatable system to get seven days of posts out of every article you write — without sounding repetitive.
You spent hours on that article. Then you posted a link once, it got a handful of clicks, and it disappeared. That's not a writing problem — it's a distribution problem.
The fix is to stop thinking of an article as one post and start treating it as raw material. Here's the system we use.
Day 1 — The carousel (Instagram + LinkedIn)
Carousels are the most-saved format on both platforms because they reward people for swiping. Take your article's 5–8 strongest points and give each one its own slide.
- Slide 1 is a promise, not a topic: "Write once, publish everywhere" beats "Thoughts on content strategy".
- One idea per slide. If a slide needs two paragraphs, it's two slides.
- Last slide asks for one action: save, share, or follow.
On LinkedIn, upload the carousel as a PDF document. It shows up as a swipeable post and usually gets far more dwell time than a link.
Day 2 — The thread (X)
Threads reach people who never click links. Open with the result, then deliver one idea per post, each under 280 characters. End with a reason to follow you or read the full piece.
Day 3 — The LinkedIn post
LinkedIn rewards a strong first two lines (everything before "…see more"). Lead with a short, specific statement, add three or four short paragraphs, and finish with a question that invites comments.
Day 4 — The quote card
Pick the single most quotable sentence from your article and put it on a clean 1080×1080 card. Quote cards are fast to consume and easy to share.
Day 5 — The short video
Turn the same idea into a 30–60 second script: a hook in the first two seconds, three quick points, and a call to action. You don't need fancy editing — talking to camera with captions works.
Day 6 — Repost the carousel in the other language
If any of your audience speaks Spanish (or English), translate the carousel. It's new content for a new audience, built from the same work.
Day 7 — Link back to the article
Now that people have seen the ideas five different ways, share the full article. The ones who want depth will click.
You don't need more ideas. You need more formats for the ones you already have.
